Do Ridiculous Stunts Ever Impress a Hiring Manager?

Short Answer: No.

Yes, we live in a time of great Disruption. Well, ok wait. We live in a time when the idea of Disruption has become:

A. A mantra/goal for hungry startups that want to change the world, and by change the world, I mean create an app that allows people to fill idle time waiting for elevators, etc.
B. Overused business-speak whose meaning has lost most of its significance. Kind of like that director you had who claimed to have an “open-door policy”. Or “high-level” — how did that come to mean basic?

But listening to business writers (We do this so you don’t have to) or analysts, there’s just no shortage of praise for the idea that for a company to succeed it has to disrupt its industry. It’s sort of rude sounding. Not knowing your place somehow became a virtue. Well, what does this mean for job applicants? Should they also disrupt?
Short Answer: No

But it is fun to read about the silly things people have done to get a job, see the link below for a dozen of them. 0% of them worked, but who knows maybe it’ll be different for you.
